Aquino names AFP vice chief of staff, OCD chief

From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 4): Aquino names AFP vice chief of staff, OCD chief

President Benigno Aquino III has appointed a new vice chief of staff of the Armed Forces as well as an acting administrator of the Office of Civil Defense.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, in a text message Monday, said: "We are pleased to announce that President Aquino has approved the designation of Lt. Gen. Alan R. Luga as AFP as vice chief of staff, effective Feb 1, 2013."

Luga is a former commander of the Army's 7th Infantry Division and worked as a plans officer of the Force Headquarters of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in East Timor.

Meanwhile, Valte said the President has also appointed Eduardo del Rosario as OCD Acting Administrator, also effective Feb. 1.  She said Del Rosario will also take over as executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

Del Rosario replaces Benito T. Ramos, who earlier resigned from his post. He is the former commander of the 2nd Infantry Division and former head of the Civil Relations Service of the AFP.
