From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 7): 4 NPA rebels killed in Abra
Four suspected New People’s Army rebels were killed on Thursday in an encounter
with Army soldiers in Barangay Cayapa, Lagangilang, Abra, a military official
said in a belated report.
Colonel Loreto Magundayao, Army’s 5th Infantry Division spokesman, said the
Army’s 41st Infantry Battalion soldiers and 20-member New People’s Army rebels
under the Kilusang Larangang Guerrilla North engaged in a brief gunbattle.
Army soldiers recovered assorted guns, ammunition, backpacks and other
belongings and alleged subversive documents.
The rebels allegedly slept at the village as evident of the tents found
there.
Soldiers did not suffer any casualty from the encounter, he added.
