From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 14): Army troops to ensure peaceful and
orderly plebiscite in Cabanatuan City
The Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division has vowed to work hand-in-hand with
concerned government agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly December 1
plebiscite for the conversion of Cabanatuan from component city of Nueva Ecija
to highly-urbanized city.
Brig. Gen. Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., chief of the 7ID based here, said
their troops here are on “standby alert” for deployment before, during and after
the plebiscite to assist the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the conduct
of checkpoints and security to polling centers for the Secured and Free Election
(SAFE).
”Your Army in Central Luzon, the Kaugnay troopers, are disciplined soldiers
who are geared towards protecting the nation and serving the Filipino people.
And in the spirit of Bayanihan, we will work hand-in-hand with the government
agencies for the peace and development of the region,” Catapang said.
He reminded the government troops to follow the guidelines on the gun ban
prohibition as disseminated in line with the Commission on Election (COMELEC)
policies on elections and plebiscite....
