From Panay News (Jun 17, 2023): Ex-scout ranger gunned down in Kabankalan (By DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA)
BACOLOD City – A former member of the Philippine Army’s Scout Rangers was killed after he was shot to death by four gunmen on Cordova Street in Barangay 3, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental late Thursday night, June 15.The 46-year-old Kenneth Ababao was a resident of the said place.
Two of the suspects were later identified by Kabankalan City police as a certain 40-year-old alias “Adok” and 38-year-old Bonie Medez, both residents of Barangay Dancalan in the neighboring town of Ilog.
The remaining two suspects have yet to be identified.
Based on the initial investigation of the Kabankalan City police, the victim was having a drinking session with his friends when Adok, Medez and the two unidentified men arrived and opened fire at Ababao.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his chest and was declared “dead on arrival” at a hospital in the city.
As of this writing, police were still trying to establish the motive of the shooting and a manhunt operation against the suspects was ongoing.
