CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — Geared towards being a game-changer in the AFP's capabilities, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Cyber Group (AFPCyG) celebrated its 5th Founding Anniversary today, June 26 at the AFP Headquarters.

The Vice Chief of Staff, AFP (VCSAFP), LtGen Arthur M Cordura PAF served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the anniversary celebration and said, “Cyber is the heart of our C4ISTAR [Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting Acquisition and Reconnaissance]. It is a game changer. The application of cyber fundamentally changes the nature of war thereby inevitably shifting the paradigm on how we operate in a continuum of peace, conflict, crisis, and war."

With the theme: "Looking Back, Moving Forward: Celebrating 5 Years of Constant Innovation in the Pursuit of Excellence, and Security in the Cyber Realm”, the VCSAFP commended the AFPCyG for their unwavering service in cyberspace operations. The VCSAFP said that the use of cyber operation is part of our national and collective defense means, and recognized the Secretary of National Defense, Hon. Gilberto Teodoro Jr., who underscored the significance of cyber capabilities as a command and leadership tool.

The VCSAFP added that “those [are] capabilities that provide situational awareness and actionable intelligence for military and decision-makers to guide and execute their command and control directives.”

Headed by its Commander, Col Walter Icaro PA, the AFPCyG proudly showed its renewed commitment to the mission of defending Cyberspace as one of the AFP's domains and building the Armed Forces’ robust Cyberspace Capabilities.
