Barangay Tambo, Ayungon, Negros Oriental – The 94th Infantry Mandirigma Battalion conducted a Peace Rally with the theme “Peace for Negros: United Against Communist Armed Conflict” together with various government officials and local residents coming from different barangays in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental held in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on March 29, 2023.
The Peace Rally aimed to unite the people to end the local communist armed conflict which has been a threat the peace and stability of geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities (GIDA) in Central Negros. The rally sought to raise awareness about the impact of the decade long insurgency on these communities and the need for a collective effort to address the underlying issues. By bringing together various stakeholders, including government officials, local residents, and community leaders, the rally aimed to foster cooperation and build momentum towards lasting peace.
The event was attended by Congresswoman Mercedez Alvarez-Lansang of the 6th District of Negros Occidental, DILG, PNP-Kabankalan, PNP-Himamaylan, and 2500 local residents and Brgy officials coming from hinterland barangays of Kabankalan City, Himamaylan City, Binalbagan all of Negros Occidental and the Municipality of Ayungon, Negros Oriental.
In a statement, Ltc Van Donald L Almonte, 94IB Commander, emphasized the importance of the peace rally in promoting unity and cooperation among the people of Negros. He expressed his gratitude to the city and district officials who supported the event and believed that this is a big step towards achieving peace in Central Negros.
Meanwhile, Colonel Orlando D Edralin, 303rd Brigade Commander, expressed his hopes for a peaceful and prosperous Negros, and recognized the crucial role played by the 94th Infantry Mandirigma Battalion in maintaining security and stability in the region. He emphasized the battalion’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace and protecting the people of Negros.
“The 94th Infantry Mandirigma Battalion, under the 303rd Infantry Brigade, is dedicated to working closely with various government agencies and other stakeholders to achieve peace and progress in Negros Occidental. Through continuous cooperation and collaboration, peace and progress in Negros Occidental is within reach”. Col Edralin added.
