Two members of the New People’s Army were neutralized in a 10-minute encounter with the troops of the 34th Infantry (Reliable) Battalion (34IB) in Barangay New La Union, Maitum, Sarangani Province on Wednesday morning, January 18.
The two were identified as Arnold "Kempee Maguan/Bambam" Laugo Amad, the 2nd Deputy Secretary of Guerilla Front Musa of Far South Mindanao Region (GF MUSA, FSMR), and alias "Saysay".According to Lieutenant Colonel Rey Rico, 34IB Commander, the engaged group of NPA was headed by Anthony Narvasa alias Magaw, Omar, and Nomad, Secretary of GF MUSA, FSMR. The group immediately fled, leaving the two behind. Also recovered from the scene is a .45 caliber pistol.
Meanwhile, Major General Roy Galido, Commander of Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division, called on the remaining members of the NPA to peacefully surrender and make the most of the government programs and services for them.
