Six members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered and handed over their firearms and other war materials to Lt. Col. Jayson Domingo, Commanding Officer of the 1st Mechanized Battalion, in Barangay Kabengi, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao Del Sur on Sunday, January 15, 2023.Brig. Gen. Pedro Balisi, Jr., Commander of the 1st Mechanized Brigade, said that various materiel was surrendered by the personalities and disclosed that the former violent extremists were members of the BIFF-Karialan Faction.
Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Acting Commander of the Western Mindanao Command, commended the troops of the 1st Mechanized Brigade for this laudable accomplishment. He also welcomed the former violent extremists and assured them that assistance in their return to mainstream society and their safety as they prepare would be ensured.
