From Kalinaw News (Jul 12, 2022): NPA leaders lead troops to recover five (5) HPFAs cached in Maco, Davao De Oro
MAWAB, Davao De Oro – Recently surrendered high-ranking leaders of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) led the 10ID soldiers to an arms cache with five (5) high-powered firearms in the vicinity of North Davao, Purok 6, Barangay New Leyte, Maco, Davao De Oro on the afternoon of July 9, 2022.
Alias “Jeg”, former commanding officer; alias “Jelong”, former squad leader; and alias “Dandan”, Secretary of the dismantled Guerilla Front 2 who surrendered on June 10 of this year, accompanied the combined elements of the 25th Infantry Battalion (IB), 28IB, Davao De Oro Police Provincial Office (DDOPPO), 10th Military Intelligence Battalion, and other intel units all under the 1001st Infantry Brigade to the location of four (4) M16 rifles and one (1) M14 rifle buried by the said armed group.
Agila Division Commander MGen Nolasco A Mempin lauded the successful retrieval operations of firearms in the said province. “The cooperation of the former rebels in leading us to recover their buried firearms is a clear manifestation of the trust and confidence that our friends rescued have in our soldiers. These firearms must be recovered for us to ensure that these weapons cannot be used again in sowing terror and violence to our people.” MGen Mempin added.
It can be recalled that Davao De Oro was officially declared an Insurgency-Free province on June 22, 2022, after all the eight guerilla fronts previously operating in the area were all dismantled.
