Army infantry units of the 3rd Infantry Division stationed in Negros island are expected to receive more soldiers soon, following the graduation of 181 neophyte soldiers from a seven-month training at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.

The 181 Army soldiers were taught with fundamentals of soldiery and instilled with the Army’s core values of honor, duty, and patriotism during their 7-month rigorous training, a statement for the 3rd Infantry Division said.

The 3ID supervises eight Army infantry battalions, comprising almost 4,000 soldiers, deployed in Negros, Panay and Bohol.

Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 3ID commander, said that the neophyte soldiers have undergone tough physical conditioning, psychological and emotional pressure, and trial of camaraderie that prepared them for their future endeavors as members of the Philippine Army.

Arevalo also reminded the new Army soldiers to remember always the 3ID’s mantra “Love by the people and feared by the enemy.”

The neophyte soldiers also their issued R4 Carbine assault rifles during the entrustment rites, which was led by Tapaz Mayor Roberto Palomar, symbolizing the supremacy of civilian authority over the military.
