Community Support Program resulted to the surrender of Former Violent Extremist
Isabela City, Basilan – Through the continuous effort and coordination of the AFP and LGUs, the Community Support Program of 18th Infantry (DEO et PATRIA) Battalion, 1ID, PA in the Municipality of Al-Barka, Basilan, resulted to the surrender of Former Violent Extremist during the Barangay Grand Assembly at the Covered Court of Brgy. Danapah, Al-Barka, Basilan Province on 17 March 2022.
With the aim of the JTF-Basilan to promote peace, security, and development in the Province of Basilan, the Charlie Company of 18th Infantry (DEO et PATRIA) Battalion, 1ID, PA, conducted simultaneous Community Support Programs at Brgy. Cambug, Brgy. Macalang, and Brgy. Danapah, Al-Barka, Basilan. Said CSP resulted to the surrender of Former Violent Extremist, a.k.a OMZ, together with a (1) One M16 assault rifle, a resident of Brgy. Danapah, and (2) two M1 Garand rifles from Brgy. Cambug and Brgy. Macalang, Al-Barka. Basilan Province which were highlighted during the Grand Assembly at the Covered Court of Brgy. Danapah.
The Community Support Program of the AFP plays a vital role in linking the LGUs and LGAs to the people. This allows the government to effectively address the primary concerns in a local community, including the need for basic services. As a result, the people becomes more aware of the government assistance, which later encourage Violent Extremists to surrender.
