PIKIT, North Cotabato , Philippines — Two members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) were killed in a clash with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fighters here on Friday.

Police and the military confirmed that the clash occurred in Sitio Buguak in Barangay Kalakakan.

The MILF group is led by Gampong Olimpain whose clan is involved in armed conflict with leaders of the MNLF in Barangays Kalakakan and Balatikan.

Dozens of families were forced to evacuate their homes to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

Pikit Mayor Sumulong Sultan, chairman of the municipal peace and order council, sent emissaries to talk to both sides. He said he would also seek the help of MNLF and MILF leaders.
