CITING hardship in the armed struggle, two former supporters of the New People's Army (NPA) surrendered to the 605th Maneuver Company (MC), Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-6 of the Philippine National Police with its Community Support Program (CSP) on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

The police
identified those who surrendered as "Ka Bantol," a former chairman of a progressive organization and "Ka Kikoy."

Ka Bantol said he served as lecturer and recruiter of the NPA sympathizers, organizer of rallies and helped in helping wounded armed rebels, while Ka Kikoy is his assistant, police records showed.


Ka Bantol added that he is willing to change his ways to live his life peacefully with his family.

They surrendered to Captain Ivan Villarosa of the 605th MC and company commander Major Gerald Suquib based in Escalante City and RMFB-Western Visayas commander Lieutenant Colonel Joel Garcia.

The duo was turned over to the city's National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict for the livelihood program.

It has been the objective of the program to make all the Filipinos unite and be one to have a safer, peaceful and progressive community that will bring everyone to success, the police said.

The program also aims to encourage the rebels to return to government fold and live a safer, peaceful and happy life with their families.
