Posted to the Western Command (WESCOM) Facebook Page (Jan 28, 2022): Palawan-based Marines are participating in MAREX 2022

ICYMI: Our Palawan-based Marines are participating in a combined PH-US Marine Forces bilateral and near-simultaneous amphibious operation exercises dubbed as MAREX22 from 27 January to 02 February 2022, in order to develop PH-US Marine Forces’ capabilities on Amphibious Operations in support to Counter Terrorism, Internal Security Operations and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response.

MAREX22 is an annual combined military exercise between the Philippine and US Marine Corps, It is an interoperability training that will improve the amphibious operations and CTO of the PMC and USMC forces. It is also a humanitarian exercise operation with the participation of the Local Government Units in WESCOM JAO in the execution of the HADR.

In adherence to health and safety protocols, only 340 AFP personnel and 500 US forces members will be participating in the exercise. With the current situation brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the MAREX22 PH will have a few modifications in adherence to health and safety protocol set by the Philippine Government.

Above all, this exercise shows no offensive military operations concerning issues in the WPS. It is an exchange of knowledge and skills for smooth cooperation between two Marine Corps Forces.
