Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – December 9, 2021

Five soldiers of the 45th Infantry Battalion under the Joint Task Force Sulu were accorded the Wounded Personnel Medal on December 6, 2021. The gallantry of the soldiers was recognized after sustaining wounds during an encounter against more or less 30 terror group members under Radullan Sahiron in Barangay Danag and Barangay Maligay, both of Patikul Sulu at noon of December 5.

Awarded were Corporal Sydney Tangguiyac, Private Aljade Jamjiron, Private Brayan Marfe, Private Edmun Ferrer, and CAA Nadzmir Majili. They also received cash gifts amounting to PhP20, 000.00 each.

The awarding was held at Camp Navarro General Hospital in Calarian, this city. Maj. Gen. William Gonzales, Commander of the 11th Infantry Division/Joint Task Force Sulu presided over the awarding ceremony. He was accompanied by Col. Elmer Suderio, Chief of Unified Command Staff who represented WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., and Cdr. Edwin Ello, the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Personnel, U1.

“We thank you for your service and sacrifices. Know that the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Filipinos are proud of you,” Maj. Gen. Gonzales said.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Rosario, Jr. said, “I commend the members of Team Alakdan and Joint Task Force Sulu for your continuing dedication and selfless service to our country and people. May this recognition be an added motivation in your efforts to quell terrorism in Sulu”.
