MAKILALA, COTABATO – Government, youth and civic organizations joined the Whole of Nation (WoN) Approach through Bike for Peace: Medical Mission and Community Outreach in Sitio Bandera, Brgy Balabag, Digos City, Davao del Sur to support the ongoing Barangay Development Program (BDP) today, December 10, 2021.

It can be recalled that Sitio Bandera, Barangay Balabag has been one of the most conflict-stricken areas in Digos and has served as the main battleground between government forces and communist terrorist group due to its infiltration.

This activity aims to continuously promote the sustainable development of former conflict-affected areas which ensures that formerly neglected rural communities are provided with well-established quality government services.

The activity was participated in by 200 bike enthusiasts from all over Digos City headed by Hon Ian Llanos bringing medicine and other provisions for the conduct of the medical mission and civic action in the recipient barangay.

Through the combined efforts of the Local Government Unit of Digos City headed by Mayor Josef Cagas, Caring Hearts Group, members of 603rd Technical and Administrative Service Group led by LTC Mary Christine Daligdig (MC) RES, NLC Construction, Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office under PCOL Giuseppe Geralde, Digos City Police led by PLTC Hamlet Lerios, City Veterinary Office, City Agriculturist, PNP-RPSB, Youth For Peace Movement-Davao del Sur Chapter, Barangay Officials and 39IB, they were able to cater up to 115 families of Barangay Balabag by providing free circumcision, legal consultation, checkup, medicine, food and school supplies.
