From the Mindanao Times (Dec 20, 2021): 2 rebels slain in clashes (By RHODA GRACE SARON)

THE military reported that two members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in separate clashes in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental and in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte on Dec.14.
The report added that the soldiers, who were all under the Fourth Infantry Division, were able to seize six firearms during the incidents even as those killed have yet to be identified.
Major Francisco Garello Jr., Public Affairs Office chief of the division, said the first encounter took place in So Mangilit, Brgy Bal-ason, Gingoog City when soldiers under the 58th Infantry Battalion and 16th Infantry Battalion conducted an operation.
The soldiers found the hideout of the rebels which resulted in the 30-minute armed confrontation.
Recovered from the incidents were four rifles, an M-203 grenade launcher, some documents and personal belongings.
Later that morning, members of the 23rd Infantry Battalion clashed with five rebels in Sitio Malague, Barangay Guinabsan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
The firefight also resulted in the recovery of a rifle and ammunition.
