The Philippine Army (PA) and its Indonesian counterpart, the Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Darat (TNI AD), formally concluded their virtual anti-terrorism training activity on Thursday.

Dubbed as the Training Activity Brigade Combat Team Exercise (TA BCT 2021), the activity aims to maintain and increase the understanding of the participants in terrorism management based on terrorism handling systems in both countries.

“Congratulations to the participants for joining this important event. May you share and apply what you learned in this training on our actual performance of duty in fighting terrorism in the country,” PA commander Lt. Gen. Andres Centino said in a statement posted on the PA's Facebook page on Thursday night.

The anti-terrorism training started last October 12 through a discussion-based session between the PA’s 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT) and TNI AD’s 13th Military Area Command.

Participants specifically tackled the enhancement of combined interoperability of PA and TNI AD and developing mechanisms to address cross-border terrorism.

Both armies presented and discussed the general view of counter-terrorism in Indonesia and the Philippines, the terrorism handling mechanism in Marawi by the PA and in Poso, Indonesia by TNI AD, and the operations concept in handling cross-state terrorism.

Centino thanked the TNI AD for the continued alliance that helped boost the capabilities of both armies against terrorism in their respective countries.
