Posted to Kalinaw News (Aug 15, 2021): Army’s 65IB Clash against Communist NPA Terrorists in AgSur
SIBAGAT, Agusan del Sur – the 65th Infantry “Stalwart” Battalion Intensified Military Operation resulted in an armed clash against Communist NPA Terrorist’s (CNT) Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) 21C of Guerilla Front (GF) 21, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) last August 8, 2021.
The 15-minute firefight at the uninhabited boundary of Barangay Anticala, Butuan City and Barangay Kulambogan, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur resulted to the capture of eight (8) backpacks with personal belongings, six (6) cellular phones, and subversive documents.
The said encounter stemmed from the reports of concerned civilians in the area who spotted an undetermined number of terrorists trying to recruit new members and who are fed-up with the extortion activities of the CNTs.
This also led to the discovery of a CNT lair, which they used to consolidate their forces in terrorizing the peace-loving people of Butuan and Sibagat.
The armed clash is a manifestation that the communist terrorists are continuously losing their support and making them vulnerable to military operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Emerson P. De Vera, Commanding Officer of 65IB, said that troops are in the area to secure peace and ensure the safety of residents as part of their mandate of protecting the people against the terrorists senseless series of harassments and spates of terrorism that gravely affect the line of innocent civilians.
“A lot of innocent lives were lost just because of your unceasing armed struggle and these will only bring death, misery, anger, and poverty. We are once again calling on the NPAs to go back to the folds of the law and choose to live peacefully”.
“Various benefits are enhanced to support you and your families especially when you cooperate with the government and lay down your firearms,” De Vera added.
