Mati City – Patrolling troops of 67th Infantry Battalion clashed this morning with NPA in the village of Maymayan, Sta Maria, Trento, Agusan resulting to 1 dead NPA terrorist and the recovery of 1 M16 rifle.

“The NPAs are in the act of extorting money and food from the villagers when chanced upon by our community support team who are implementing barangay development initiatives, Lieutenant Colonel Louie Dema-ala, Battalion Commander of 67IB narrated. “I thank the villagers for reporting the presence of extorting NPA. Please support instead our efforts to unify for peace and to end NPA terrorist atrocities, ” he added.

“We welcome with open arms our lost NPA brothers who surrender. You have a sincere government here willing to extend assistance in the form of livelihood, skills training, education and even housing to former rebels, ” Governor Santiago Cane Jr of Agusan del Sur underscored.

Community Support Teams of the Philippine Army work hand in hand with local government units, police, non-government organizations and other peace partners under the ambit EO # 70 to end local communist armed conflict.
