Eight hundred fifty personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) are training on internal security operations to combat insurgency.

The Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) for 323 policemen started yesterday at the PRO-6’s mobile group training center in Sara, Iloilo, said Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson.

The remaining 527, on the other hand, started immersing in the villages of Antique and IIoilo province known as “centers of gravity” of the rebel movement in Panay Island.

They are expected to apply the skills they learned during training, said Malong.

The 323 cops would also undergo community emersion once they finish the BISOC – a mandatory training for all police personnel.

The 60-day training course provides the cops with the right knowledge, attitude, skills, and values that will make them more capable and qualified to be assigned in the mobile forces of the Philippine National Police whose primary function is to confront problems on internal security, said Malong.

PRO-6 conducted a send-off ceremony for the cops led Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, chief of the PNP Training Services in Camp Crame.

“Tayo lalapit sa mga tao para mag–serbisyo at para malaman natin ang kanilang mga concerns,” Banac told the policemen.

After the training, the policemen will be assigned to various mobile force companies in Region 6.
