Five former members of communist terrorist groups (CTGs) voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Central Luzon on Monday.

Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon, regional director of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3), said
the surrenderers were only identified as Joy/Jaster, Ka Edwin/Lando and Ka Eric, former members of Platoon Uno of the Kilusang Larangang Guerilla-Sierra Madre operating in Central Aurora, and Peter and Erwin, both inactive members of the Regional Yunit Guerilla (RYG) operating in Zambales and Pangasinan.

De Leon said the three surrendered in Aurora province while the two yielded to authorities in Zambales.

He said the former rebels also surrendered a home-made shotgun with two live ammunition without serial number and a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunition also without serial number.

“The five former rebels have returned to the fold of law because they want to have renewed life with their families,” the PRO-3 chief said in a statement.

He said that the PRO-3, together with all member agencies of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict III (RTF-ELCAC III) will continue the whole-of-sector approach against communist terrorists to achieve peace and national unity.
