HADJI MOHAMMAD AJUL, Basilan Province – The local government unit of Hadji Mohammad Ajul intensify its peace efforts in the locality as they handed over two (2) high-powered firearms to the 15th Special Forces Company on Monday, 11 January 2021, in support to the campaign of the unit against loose firearms.
Two concerned citizens sought assistance with Mayor Ibrahim Ballaho of HMA Municipality to surrender their loose firearms to the authorities. They handed over one (1) 50 Caliber Barrett, one (1) M16A1 US Rifle, several rounds of 50 cal. ammunitions, and magazines. Accordingly, they opted to surrender the loose firearms to keep themselves away from trouble with the local authorities.
“Bilang mga mamamayan na sumusunod sa batas, kailangan nating maintindihan na ang paghawak ng hindi lisensyadong baril ay mariin na ipinagbabawal. Kaya hinihikayat natin ang iba na yakapin ang kapayapaan at isuko ang mga loose firearms,” Captain Sherwin Latiera, the Commanding Officer of 15SFC said.
It can be recalled last week, former MILF members here in Barangay Langgong of Hadji Mohammad Ajul Municipality trained to be members of Civilian Volunteer Organization to help promote peace and secure the community from any threats.
