Combined elements of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-6, Tandubas Municipal Police Station, and Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted joint law enforcement operation that led to the neutralization of two members of the Sulu-based ASG/Kidnap for Ransom Group.
The joint operation resulted in a 10-minute firefight between the government troops and KFRG in Barangay Taruk, Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi in the morning of May 3, 2020.
While scouring the encounter site, troops recovered two dead bodies identified as Jul Haber a.k.a. Black Shabu/Toks and Kamsel Ampang.
Seized from the area were one M16 rifle (ELISCO) with scope; 123 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition; six short alloy magazines of M16 rifle; three long magazines of M16 rifle (1 alloy and 2 plastic); one rifle grenade; one suspender; five plastic sachets made of straw; one plastic sachet of Shabu; and other drug paraphernalia.
"Jul Haber is an ASG/KFRG member who arrived at Sitio Gigipan, Brgy Dungon, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi last May 2017," said Col. Arturo Rojas, commander of the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi.
"He was also engaged in illegal drug trade in the area of Tandubas together with Odin Masihul, a.k.a. Baby/Bedi/Ombak, who was neutralized in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Pahapatan, Barangay Baldatal Islam, Sapa-Sapa, Tawi-Tawi on November 20, 2019," Col. Rojas added.
The cadavers were turned over to Tandubas MPS for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, the wife and son of Jul Haber were also turned over to Hon. NasilHajiul Abug, Chairman of Barangay Taruk.
"Let us continue to collaborate, fight terrorism and criminalities, and work for peace in the communities," said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
"Congratulations to our marine troopers and police counterparts for a job well done," Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
