Mawab, Davao de Oro – Amidst corona virus pandemic, the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program through Department of Interior and Local continues to extend its program to 40 former rebels (FRs) at Old Session Hall, Capitol, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro on May 26, 2020, Tuesday.

Among the 40 ECLIP beneficifaries, 6 of them are surrenderors of 71st IB who received a total amount of Php390,000.

Alyas Norma, a female recruit of the NPA who surrender through the help of Mayor Rupet Gonzaga on February 2019 expressed her gratitude, “I owe the chance to live peacefully with my family to the government. Also, I am grateful for the assistance provided through ECLIP in order for me to start anew.”

It can be recalled that Alyas Norma is a recruit of his own father who was killed by his own NPA comrade. Upon his death, the government provided for his burial,which gives @Norma a realization to surrender.

LTC SONNY GONZALES, acting Commanding Officer of 71st IB said, “The Army together with other government agencies and private sectors has been working hand-in-hand not only to serve during the pandemic but also to continue all other services as mandated. As we remain true to our service, peace is possible through convergence.”
