AFP-CRS: ‘Marawi hero’ is new commander of Army’s 1st Infantry Division

Posted to the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Civil Relations Service (AFP-CRS) Facebook Page (Jan 19, 2020): ‘Marawi hero’ is new commander of Army’s 1st Infantry Division

The former 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander and who took part in liberating Marawi city in year 2017 now leads the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division.

Brig. Gen. Generoso “Gene” Ponio, succeeded Maj. Gen. Roberto T. Ancan, who now assumed as the commander of the Central Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines, based in Cebu City.
