BACOLOD CITY -- The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has placed all of its units on full alert status to carry out various measures under the "Ligtas Paskuhan 2019" to ensure a safe and secure Christmas and New Year holidays.

Lt. Col. Adrian Acollador, deputy provincial director for administration, said on Thursday that full alert status will be in effect from December 15 to January 5, 2020.

He added that the deployment of personnel during the holidays is aligned with the identified crime-prone areas, and policemen are assigned per beat, mobile, and motorcycle operations, as well as for intelligence work.

“We also have border control operations,” Acollador said.

Earlier, Col. Romeo Baleros, police provincial director, said that to effectively secure activities during the Yuletide season, NOCPPO is utilizing the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) Strategy through the implementation of Implementing Plan (IMPLAN) 2019-67.

“We are ready to secure the Negrenses during the Christmas season,” he said.

Baleros, however, reminded the public to still be cautious of their security and guard their properties to prevent being victims of crimes.

Under the IMPLAN, the provincial police sustain regular law enforcement operations and focused law enforcement operations along with security measures to protect vital installations and for border control/ checkpoint operations.

The plan also highlights the deployment of security personnel in areas where people are expected to converge such as churches and the public plaza.
