CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – At least three members of the terror group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and the Dawlah Islamiyah Toraife Group (DITG) were killed and several firearms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered today in Shariff Saydona Mustapha town in Maguindanao.

The continuous military operations of the 601st Infantry Brigade of Joint Task Force Central also yielded 3 M16 rifles, 3 IEDs, and 6 improvised hand grenades in Barangay Pamalian of Shariff Saydona Mustapha by the troops of 57th Infantry Battalion around 9:30 a.m.

Around 1:00 p.m. of the same day, four dead bodies of members of the terror groups were recovered at Barangay Pusao of the same town by the troops of 33rd Infantry Battalion. Also recovered were one calibre .45 pistol and one 5.56mm K2 assault rifle.

“The dead bodies recovered were already identified by the local leaders of Barangay Pusao and were given proper burial following the lslamic rites,” 601st Brigade Commander Col. Jose Narciso said.

“The military operation is focused on the area where there are reported presence of BIFF and DITG as the target of the operation,” he added.

“The series of IEDs and IED-making components found and recovered by our JTF Central troops are clearly meant to create chaos and conduct terror attack in Central Mindanao,” JTF Central and 6ID Commander, Maj. Gen. Diodado C. Carreon, said.

The Commander also commended the operating troops for their latest accomplishments and successful operation against the local terror groups in Central Mindanao.
