NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Nov. 29 (PIA6) -- The 303rd Infantry Brigade warned students, parents and teachers of the recruitment deception by the New People’s Army (NFA) and its affiliate militant organizations.
303rd IB Commander Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, who served as guest of honor and speaker during the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Presentation of Sponsors and Recognition of Parents AY 2019-2020 of Colegio de Sta. Ana-Victorias (CSAV) in Victorias City, reiterated the warning to about 600 parents, teachers and students during the ceremony.

Arevalo talked on the “Deceptive Youth Recruitment Strategy of the CPP-NPA-NDF” and showed a short animated video entitled “Pindoy”, exposing the modus of the CPP-NPA-NDF in deceiving and misleading the youth to join the NPA.

During the lecture, he emphasized the evil schemes of CPP-NPA-NDF in infiltrating the different schools, state colleges and universities in the country and forewarned the students to be wary of the NDF organizations that they are joining since some will only fool them, corrupt their hearts with hatred and will distort their minds with lies.

Arevalo clarified the distinction between “activism” and “supporting terrorism”, saying “activism is not a crime, but supporting terrorism is a crime".

"Our government respects the right to academic freedom, however a student joining the NPA or supporting terrorist organizations is illegal and a crime,” Arevalo added.

The CSAV faculty headed by Atty. Romeo Vincente Sta. Ana Jr; Dr. Nemia Yorac, Dean of Instruction and Dr. Nelly ParreƱo, Research Director and Officer In-charge presented a certificate of appreciation to Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
