MALAPATAN, Sarangani Province – A member of the NPA identified as Melchor of Squad 1, Platoon Central, WGF TALA (GF71), FSMR, resident of Sitio Melag, Brgy Kinam, Malapatan, Sarrangani Province voluntarily surrendered to Alpha Company, 73IB under 1st Lt. Orestes D. Fausto, Sarangani Police Provincial Office, and Malapatan Police Station on Wednesday, 30 October 2019, bringing along with him one (1) springfield carbine rifles with serial number 388427. Accordingly, Melchor surrendered due to fear for his security and constant hiding from government troops. He would also like to settle his family problems which were brought about by his joining the NPA.

SInce January of this year, there are already a total of 46 NPA who have surrendered to 73IB with 29 assorted firearms.“The government forces are focused on defeating the CPP-NPA Terrorists as it hinders peace and security. Thus, we are reiterating our call on other NPA members to lay down their arms, surrender and avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP)”, Lt. Col. Ronaldo G. Valdez, Commander, 73IB said.

“We shall continue to uphold our core purpose of serving the people and securing the land. With the support of the Local Government Unit and local officials of Sarangani Province, we can together defeat and end the CPP-NPA Terrorists evil interventions”, he added.
