Two leaders of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army were arrested in Diffun, Quirino on Monday.
Reynaldo Miguel Busania and Sharon de la Cruz, chief communications officer and medical officer of the Regional Organization Department of Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley, respectively, were collared in Purok 2, Barangay Magsaysay at around 6:55 p.m.
The military said Busania has standing arrest warrants for frustrated murder, serious illegal detention, robbery and arson.
Brig. Gen. Laurence Mina, commander of the 502nd Infantry Brigade, said the suspects were also tagged in extortion targeting contractors of government projects and businessmen.
In Abra, 10 members of the Milisyang Bayan surrendered to the police on Monday and turned over a grenade, various types of ammunition and a rifle.
Two other rebels surrendered to the Gabaldon police in Nueva Ecija.
