IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon – The 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion (IB) extended transportation assistance for the delivery of 100 boxes of Century Tuna donated to Luyungan IP High School in Nasuli, Malaybalay City on October 8.

Food assistance for sustainability has been a major concern for students of Luyungan IP High School. They came from low income-generating families that even food support to their children and sending them to school has been a struggle.

Also, a decline in children’s nutritional status signals an eventual decline in their academic performance.

Through DepEd Order No. 62 IP Education (IPEd) Partnership Initiative, Luyungan IP High School has been the beneficiary of the Century Pacific Group RSPo Foundation under its Kain (Kalusugan at Isipan Naalagaan) Po Supplemental Feeding Program.

With the efforts of the stakeholders to alleviate hunger, the De La Salle Brothers, Inc., Century Pacific Group - RSPo Foundation, Philippine National Police, and 8th IB reinforced the food assistance to the students.

With a thankful heart, Mr. Edsel James R. Quemado, School Principal of Luyungan IP High School, expressed his salute to the AFP.

“You [AFP] have evolved into a healthy and helping organization to this IP community institution. The AFP has been a machinery facilitating the progress of the nation,” he said.

“In the long run, hunger has been “decapitating” the chances and opportunities of the future’s backbone [the youth]. The decrease of the students’ performance in the academe is epochal to the performance index of the nation’s progress. The students are the investments of the future. If we cannot bring anodyne to this hunger and ignore these concerns, we might lose track of sustaining peace and development," Lt. Colonel Ronald M Illana, the commanding officer of the 8th IB, said.

He added that the AFP will always extend any support to its stakeholders and will be ‘dependable’ to whatever service and help they can give to the institution. (8th IB)
