WESTMINCOM: 1st Infantry Division celebrates 83rd Founding Anniversary

The 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division celebrated its 83rd founding anniversary 2pm on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Camp Sang-an, Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga Del Sur.



“Serving the Nation with Zeal and Devotion” was this year’s theme with no less than Lieutenant General Macairog S. Alberto, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, as the guest of honor and speaker.



“The many milestones you have contributed to winning the peace and pushing the development agenda in recent years are well known and noted,” said LtGen Alberto.

Alberto also congratulated the officers, enlisted personnel, civilian workforce, and stakeholders that were given a fitting recognition for demonstrating dedicated and meritorious service during the previous year.



He also urged the Tabak troopers to recommit themselves to excellence and professionalism and contribute to the attainment of the vision of being a world-class Army that is a source of national pride.

Meanwhile, Major General Roberto T. Ancan, Commander of the 1st Infantry Division, congratulated the past and present Tabak troopers for the heroism and sacrifices they offered to the unit.



“We are very much delighted that this unit has reached its 83 years of existence providing outstanding service to the Filipino nation,” said MGen Ancan.

“Let us continue to work hard, strengthen our capabilities, and uphold our commitment to service,” Ancan added.

MGen Ancan also extended his gratitude to all the stakeholders, for their continued commitment and collaboration, and for sharing ownership with the 1ID in sustaining peace and development in Basilan, Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Lanao provinces.



The founding anniversary was celebrated with a month-long conduct of activities including a wreath-laying ceremony for the fallen soldiers, fun and ball games, color run, Tabak Got Talent, squad and disaster response operation challenge, barrio fiesta, and the 1st Tabak commander’s cup shoot fest.

WestMinCom Commander Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega commended all the members of Team Tabak for all of their feats and for their great contribution to the accomplishment of the command’s mission.

“As you celebrate your 83rd founding anniversary anchored with the theme: “Tabak @83: Serving the Nation with Zeal and Devotion”, may you remain steadfast and resolute in all your undertakings,” said LtGen Dela Vega.

“Carry on by always doing the right things and doing the things right!” LtGen Dela Vega added.

The commemoration culminated with a KPOP-themed Tabak night held at the command’s gymnasium.
