BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur- Camp Jaime N Ferrer Sr, Brgy Maharlika, Bislig City (Stn) – After a phone call from a concerned citizen, the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of the Philippine Army’s 75th Infantry (Marauder) Battalion instantly responded to the recent fire incident which transpired at the Market Site District of Brgy Mangagoy, Bislig City last June 23, 2019.

Accordingly, the fire started at around 11 o’clock in the morning at a locally made comfort room (CR) of Miss Leizle Joy Alngog and which was noticed by the residents as the fire escalated to the nearby houses made of light materials.

The fire has been brought under control by 2:30PM due to the joint rescue efforts of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) from Barobo, Hinatuan, Bislig, Lingig all of Surigao del Sur and volunteers from 911 Bislig as well as the 75IB QR Force.

Quiapo family who’s house was saved from the fire said, “Naluwas akong pamilya, mga gamit ug balay maong dako akong pasalamat sa labawng makagagahum ug sa atong kasundaluhan tungod paspas ug sayo sila miabot dinhi. Dako ilang tabang kuyog ang among mga silingan aron nga maluwas among panimalay sa dakong kalayo.” (My family, things and house was saved from the fire and I thanked God almighty and our Soldiers for their immediate assistance and help. They saved my family together with our neighbors from that big fire.)

According to Bureau of Fire Protection of Bislig City, the estimated total cost of damage amounts to more or less 58,035,000.00 with two (2) casualty and (6) injuredreported and immediately treated of a first aid by the QRF team.

Lt Col Jaime R Datuin, the Commanding Officer of 75IB said, “Your Philippine Army is not just a mere protector of the state. We are also prepared and ready to respond to provide assistance during calamity and incidents like what happened at the market site of Mangagoy.”

“Every one of us must always be vigilant in order to avoid such dreadful incidents as well as not to hamper the development of our community,” LTC Datuin added.
