Baler Aurora – Four former rebels (FRs) received financial aid on May 21, 2019 through the assistance of the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion.

During the Provincial Peace and Order Council Technical Working Group Meeting on May 21, said FRs of the New People’s Army (NPA) availed the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The meeting was presided by Atty. Ofelio Tacta Jr., DILG Provincial Director and was attended by Brigadier Geeral Rowen S. Tolentino, Commander of the 703rd Infantry (Agila) Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Jose Mari F. Torrenueva II, Commanding Officer of 91IB, PLTC Ricardo Pitpitan, APPO and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), DILG and the local government of Aurora.

The FRs received P65,000 of which the P15,000 is for immediate assistance and the P50,000 is for livelihood assistance.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Aurora will assist the former rebels in starting their own livelihood project in cooperation with other government agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Technical Education and Skilla Development Authority (TESDA).

Other benefits to be received under the ECLIP are now being processed and will be awarded within the year.

Major General Lenard T. Agustin, Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, congratulated the FRs for taking courage to start a new life and choosing the more peaceful path. He also commended the troops for successfully doing their part in assisting the FRs and ensuring their security.

Lit. Col. Torrenueva II urges remaining rebels to return to the government for there are programs in store for them that will enable and empower them to start again and become productive and responsible citizens.
