Army foils NPA's plan to stage attacks in Iloilo

From the Philippine Information Agency (Apr 17, 2019): Army foils NPA's plan to stage attacks in Iloilo

CAMP MONTECLARO, Miag-ao, Iloilo – The Army’s 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion (61B) encountered members of the CPP-NPA-Terrorist in Barangay Nalbang, Leon, Iloilo at about 5:20 a.m. of April 12.
The troops were responding to reports from local residents that fully-armed terrorists were in the area.

There was no casualty on the government side during the encounter.

According to Ltc Joel Benedict Batara, 61IB Commanding Officer, upon conducting pursuit operation against absconding enemies, troops found three bag packs, two anti-personnel landmines, two magazines of caliber 45, one magazine of 7.62mm M14 with live ammunition, subversive documents and medical paraphernalia.

The communist terrorists have plans to harass government forces and army detachments as part of their tactical offensives in connection with the commemoration of the National Democratic Front’s Anniversary on April 24.

NDF is one of the support groups of the CPP-NPA Terrorist.

Batara commended the vigilance of the locals in reporting the presence of the CPP-NPA Terrorists that resulted in the successful deterrence of their terroristic activities.

"With the people now helping your army to locate enemies, rest assured that the safety of the people of Panay will be our top priority,” Batara said.
