Conflict in the Mindanao region of southern Philippines has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives in the past half-century.

Multiple armed groups operate in the area, and many wives left behind suffer from the stigma of being widows of Abu Sayyaf fighters.

Al Jazeera's Jamela Alindogan travelled to a small village in Basilan to hear their stories.
