Military personnel found violating the Armed Forces of the Philippines' (AFP) non-partisan rule will be meted with sanctions, depending on the gravity of the offenses committed.

This was bared by AFP public affairs office chief Col. Noel Detoyato Friday when asked on what punishment can be imposed on troops found violating the standing edict of the military.

"This has always been cascaded to all our troops that the AFP is non-partisan and the only political exercise we can do is when we cast our individual votes," he said in message to the Philippine News Agency.

"Nevertheless, we have sanctions defined by Articles of War and specific instructions and violation of the provisions stated therein have corresponding punishments depending on the gravity of the offense and after undergoing through due process under the Military Justice System," Detoyato added.

The AFP official said punishments can range from confinement, demotion to separation from the service and curtailment of all benefits, salaries and allowances.
