A barangay chairperson was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding gunman in Isabela City, Basilan province, a top police official said Friday.
Police Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, said Jimnu Ladja Hamad was driving a motorcycle on the way home when fatally shot by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle that tailed him.
Hamad was the incumbent barangay chairperson of Marang-Marang, Isabela City.
Hamad crashed dead on the pavement while the suspects sped-off after the incident.
Recovered at the crime scene was an empty shell of caliber .45 pistol, police said. Licup assured an in-depth investigation will be conducted to unmask the identities of the suspects.
