Guns, ammunition seized by gov’t forces in Sultan Kudarat

From Eastern Mindanao Command (Feb 6, 2019): Guns, ammunition seized by gov’t forces in Sultan Kudarat

Government troops seized two firearms in a clearing operation in Sultan Kudarat on February 3.

Combined forces of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the Lambayong Municipal Police Station acted upon a reported sighting of 10 armed men in Barangay Zeneben, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat at 5am on Sunday.

Upon searching and clearing, operating troops recovered an M79 Grenade Launcher and a 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition from Bai Mashia Sangkai and Amando Ebad.

Both personalities and firearms are in the custody of the PNP for documentation and for filing of appropriate charges.

“The cooperation and support of the residents in the area led to the success of the combined operation,” said Major General Cirilito Sobejana, the Joint Task Force Central Commander.

Major General Sobejana said troops will continue to support the law enforcement operations of the police.

Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, the commander of the Western Mindanao Command, said, “We will sustain our support to the law enforcement operations and maximize our intelligence operations to assist the police in securing the area.”
