The Western Mindanao Command participated in the medical and dental outreach organized by the Kabasalan Eagles Club of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sitio Sumatra Island, Barangay Mariki, Zamboanga City on January 20, 2019.
The residents of the aforesaid island barangay received free medical check-up, dental service, haircut, circumcision, and eye check-up. Free reading eyeglasses were also given to senior citizen while toys and school supplies were distributed to the children.
They were also provided with entertainment by the talented magician soldiers from the Marine Base Landing Team-11. The people were overjoyed with the different tricks prepared by the magicians.
The successful outreach program was made possible through the participation of the Joint Task Force Zamboanga, Naval Forces Western Mindanao, 4th Civil Relations Group, Civil Military Operations Unit-Western Mindanao, Naval Task Force 61, Marine Base Landing Team-11, Naval Reserve Center-Western Mindanao, Health Service Command-Western Mindanao, and the partner stakeholders such as the Rotary International and Department of Health.
“Our main target are the less fortunate people from the far flung areas and island barangays who should be given a much-needed attention,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners who individually played a special role in the success of the activity,” he added.
