Peace 911, a peace and development initiative of the city for Paquibato District, earned the Kapayapaan Award on the Armed Forces of the Philippines' 83rd anniversary celebration.
The award was given last Thursday, Dec. 11.
The Peace 911 team, including consultant Irene Santiago and Malabog Punong Barangay Jesse Areja, handed the award to Mayor Sara Duterte.
"We are thankful to the Armed Forces of the Philippines for their recognition for the work of Peace 911," said the mayor.
"The city government of Davao recognizes the effort of (the Peace 911 team)," she said.
"It is their hard work and effort (that) brought about changes through implementing emergency projects in Paquibato as an intervention on the peace and order problem in that area," she added.
For 2019, the project will still focus on the same district.
"We do not have plans yet to expand Peace 911 to other districts. We have to cater first to the needs and address the issues in Paquibato before we move to other areas of the city," she said in an ambush interview.
