From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Oct 26): EXPLOSIVE INCIDENT   |  BIFF bomb attack in Cotabato-Isulan Road

AMPATUAN, Maguindanao (DWDD) – Investigators of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines are strongly suspecting a faction of the pro-Daesh Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) as the group responsible for the explosion that occurred some half a kilometer from the detachment of the Army’s 201st Mechanized Company along the Cotabato-Isulan Road in Sitio Malating, Barangay Salman, Ampatuan Municipality, Maguindanao around 9:30am today, 26 Oct 2018.

According to initial reports, no one was reported injured in the powerful blast.

Responding Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team reportedly found another unexploded Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the opposite side of the highway.

Police reportedly conducted post-blast investigation to determine the type of the IED used and to identify possible suspects.

The blast site is near the massacre site of a group of media men and some civilians in 2009.

There is a raw information that the group behind the blast is intending to bring out two more assembled IEDs for planting in populated areas or along main thoroughfares.
