Army overruns NPA camp in Isabela

From ABS-CBN (Aug 8): Army overruns NPA camp in Isabela

ECHAGUE, Isabela – Government troops overran an encampment of the New People’s Army in this town on Tuesday.

The 95th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army received information that a rebel camp was located in Barangay San Miguel and was guarded by around 20 people.

A firefight ensued between rebels and government forces which lasted for about 2 hours. There were no confirmed casualties.


Five M16 rifles, 2 bandoleers with magazines for M16, 2 rifle grenades, 3 improvised explosive device, 4 detonating cords and 7 blasting caps were recovered from the scene.

Also seized from the camp were a handheld radio, a chain saw, 7 backpacks with personal belongings, 2 cell phones and assorted medicines.

On Saturday, troops from the 86th Infantry Battalion also discovered a temporary rebel camp in Sitio Dimalungog, Jones town. The army also encountered rebel forces in Barangay Dicamay 2 in the same town.
