CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan -- Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez, Jr., inspected Wednesday the operation center of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Bulacan to observe how “Operation Listo” is being run.

Galvez visited the facility after serving as guest of honor in the simple commemoration of the 440th founding anniversary of Bulacan held at the Provincial Gymnasium here.

The general also took the opportunity to observe “Operation Listo,” a Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) program consisting of disaster preparedness manuals that contain procedures on the courses of actions that need to be done by local chief executives before, during and after the occurrence of disasters and calamities in their respective areas or communities.

Governor Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado explained to Galvez that with the PDRRMC program, disaster management authorities can coordinate with all the cities, municipalities, and government agencies on real-time situations as CCTV cameras are installed in strategic places to monitor flood and traffic situations in the country.

PDRRMO head Felicisima Mungcal said their operation center uses modern technology to regularly receives updates and observations from rain gauges and water levels of the river systems in the province, including that of Angat, Ipo and Bustos Dams and other risks areas in the province.

"We have regular reading/receiving of observations from rain gauges and water level stations located in different areas in the province," Mungcal said.
