Three members of a drug syndicate that has ties with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have surrendered while another was arrested in the province Basilan, a top police official said Monday.

Senior Supt. Rufino Inot, Basilan provincial police director, identified the surrenderers as Abdurachman Akmad, 33; Gimal Aharul, 18; and, Astal Dalih, 30.

Inot said the three, who are members of the “Tatlong Alas Drug Group” surrendered around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Candiis, Hadji Mohammad Ajul, Basilan province, through the coordination and initiative of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Commander Abdulatip Habib Bata.

He said the three, who has links with ASG Commander Abdulah Indanan, based in Basilan province, also surrendered two M-16 Armalite and Carbine rifles with ammunition.

Meanwhile, arrested around 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Tuburan proper, Hadji Mohammad Ajul, was Nane Radzkumar Ismael, 27, also a member of the “Tatlong Alas Drug Group.”

Inot said Ismael tried to escape upon sensing the arrival of the lawmen but was cornered.

Inot said the arresting team confiscated from Ismael’s possession an M-16 Armalite rifle with ammunition, a grenade, a two-way handheld radio and identification cards.
