From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Jun 20): INTENSIFIED OPERATION | 23IB overran CNT camp in Misamis Oriental
BANCASI, Butuan City (DWDD) – Soldiers from the 23rd Infantry “Masigasig” Battalion was able to seize one (1) AK-47 assault rifle and 12 backpacks from members of the terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) when they clashed with the CNTs in the remote village of Barangay Abunda, town of Magsaysay in Misamis Oriental on June 19, 2018.
According to Army Captain Al Anthony B Pueblas. CMO Officer, 402nd lnfantry Brigade, a platoon of soldiers from the 23rd lB overran the terrorists camp that could accommodate more or less sixty (60) terrorists.
Brigadier General Franco Nemesio M Gacal AFP, Commander, 402IBde, said based on civilians’ reports reaching the AFP, the CNTs were conducting extortion activities in the village which prompted the army commander to launch security operations.
“There was no casualties on our troops while two NPAs were reportedly killed in the said encounter. We are still verifying the report with some locals”, BGen Gacal added
Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Molina Jr, the 23rd lB Commander, said at least thirty (30) rebels believed to be members of Guerrilla Front 4A, Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) were involved in the clash in Sitio Migragang. AES / MCAG / 23IBMasigasig
