CAMP BGEN AGAAB, Malungon, Sarangani (DWDD) – Four (4) NPA terrorists who operates in Sarangani Province, surrendered along with their firearms to the troops of 73rd Infantry Battalion in Barangay, Kinam, Malapatan Sarangani Province on June 18,  2018.



Dante Lumayas alias Pantat 24 years old married, Dang Lumayas 45 years old married, Degoh Lumayas alias Bayabas 30 years old, married and Malkuni Lumayas alias Lawin 30 years old married and they are all residence of Sitio Akfutan, Barangay Kinam, Malapatan Sarangani Province, surrender along with their two M16 rifle, one Garand Rifle, one IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and two Handheld Versa Radio to the troops of 73IB.

“Kapoy na mi ug tinago sa bukid ug nahadlok pod mi mapatay sa engkwentro mao ni hawa na mi sa hublag”. We left the armed group because of fear of being caught in the firefight during encounter, and we are tired of hiding from the government troops, alias Pantat said.

It can be recalled last June 8, 2018 the 73IB troopers encountered their group in Barangay Culaman, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental where in one NPA terrorist was killed and the troops were able to recover his M653 rifle.

Last Sunday June 17, 2018 after acting from the information from the populace of Sitio Kalgang, Barangay Kinam that there are presence of armed NPA terrorist in the area, the troops of 73IB were able to recover two M16 rifles from the fleeing NPA terrorist.

“With our intensive security operations and continuous collaborations to our Local Government Units and other stakeholders, we can align our efforts in attaining a peaceful and conflict-resilient communities with in our area of operation.” Lt Col Angcao 73IB commander said.

The former rebels will be presented to the LGU of Sarangani Province for immediate assistance and enroll them to the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP). They will be provided with livelihood assistance and they will also receive additional cash assistance for their surrendered firearm that will help them to start a new and peaceful life.

“Once again we are calling the attention of the remaining NPA terrorist who are still hiding, to grab this opportunity to surrender. Dal-a ang inyu nga pusil kag manginabuhi sang matawhay kag masinadyahon upod ang inyu pamilya.” Brigadier General Roberto Ancan 1002nd Brigade Commander said.

Major General Noel S Clement AFP, Commander 10ID, lauded troops’ accomplishments and said “Fear no-more, NPAs. 10ID is, at all times, ready to accept your surrender. We are glad that the four NPA-terrorists from Malapatan, including the thousand others, have decided to lay down their firearms and are willing to take part in the People’s call for Peace by abandoning CPP-NPAs’ terroristic ideology. There’s no other valuable thing that can be compared to that of having you backed in your families’ arms and now potential productive partners in nation-building.” 10ID will continue to intensify its security operation and collaboration to stakeholders to protect and secure the people in its area of responsibility. 10DPAO / MCAG
