From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 10): Cops net NPA supporters in N. Cotabato
Police arrested Tuesday in Magpet, North Cotabato, three suspects, believed to be hardcore supporters of the communist New People’s Army, for possession of improvised explosive devices and frustrated murder.
Senior Superintendent Jonathan Tangonan, acting police director of North Cotabato, said joint elements of police and Army’s 15th and 39th Infantry Battalions arrested Harold Adiaton and Ian Solis, both members of Panag-hiusa sa Mag-uuma sa Magpet (PAMA), based on the search warrant issued by a local court.
The raiding team first arrested Adiaton in his home at around 4 a.m. while another team subsequently raided the house of Solis, both situated in Barangay Balite, Magpet.
Tangonan said personnel from North Cotabato Police Office also arrested at 5 a.m. Datu Dandan Mailan, a Manobo tribal leader for frustrated murder in Sitio Tungaw, Barangay Temporan, also in Magpet.
Tangonan said Adiaton and Solis had two pieces of improvised explosives believed to be landmines. Both faced charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives.
The arrested suspects are now locked up inside the Magpet police detention center.
