From the Manila Times (Aug 4): Isabela military camp needs 500 soldiers

GAMU, Isabela: The Philippine Army’s 5th Infantry Division (5ID) is in need of at least 500 new soldiers for deployment at the artillery unit of Camp Melchor Dela Cruz here.

Lt. Col. Calixto Cadamo, 5ID artillery unit commander, however, stressed the need for military personnel is not because of death among their men in the Marawi crisis and ambuscades by communist rebels but is a part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to strengthen the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The pre-qualifying examination for applicants is ongoing, comprising of 50 percent mathematics, 25 percent inductive reasoning and 25 percent basic English.

Applicants must be natural born Filipino citizens, at least 18-23 years old, at least 5 feet in height, single and without children and of good moral character.

They must pass the Philippine Army Aptitude Test Battery/Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test as well as pre-qualifying fitness test and medical exam and must be physically and mentally fit for military training.
